Quick FAQs about Kidney Stone Treatment

Yes, if the stone is less than 4 mm then it can pass on its own with medication and water consumption. If it is bigger in size (but less than 20 mm) then the no-cut procedures like RIRS can help.

Yes, RIRS or retrograde intra-renal lithotripsy is a no-cut, no-stitch procedure that removes the stone through the urethral opening. Some big stones need PCNL treatment only, it depends upon the size of the stone you have.

It depends upon the size of the stone you have. ESWL lithotripsy and RIRS are performed for mid-sized stones and PCNL for big kidney stone removal.

In case of RIRS or lithotripsy, you will be discharged the next day if not the same day. You can go home the day after your surgery in case of PCNL surgery for kidney stones.
