Types of Penile Implants
- One-piece or Semi-rigid or Malleable penile Implants – As the name suggests, they are easily bendable. The patient just has to pull the penis up before having sexual intercourse. It just stays like this until it is bent down. It is cheaper than the inflatable implant but it is not a natural technique for erection. Inflatable implants provide a more natural process of erection than this.
- Inflatable Implants – As suggested by the name, these implants are inflated by pressing a hidden switch under the skin of the penis. The switch inflates the penis thereby giving a more natural and strong erection. These are premium quality implants with greater convenience to use and have great results as well.
It can be of two types –
- Two-piece penile implant – It has two small cylinders and one pump. Two cylinders are implanted inside the penis to provide a full erection when pumped. The pump is implanted in the scrotum. When the switch is pressed or the pump is squeezed, then the cylinders are filled and a strong erection is observed. You just need to bend down the penis to deflate it.
- Three-Piece Penile Implant – This type of implant has a third part as well that’s a reservoir. This reservoir is implanted in the lower abdomen while the pump stays in the scrotum.
