Most hip replacement surgeries in Delhi are performed on patients about 50 to 80 years of age. However, sometimes there is a need for hip replacement in younger patients as well due to trauma or avascular necrosis cases.
You can walk the next day after surgery. You will have to take support during your recovery process.
The surgery is performed under anesthesia so you won’t feel a thing. However, you can have discomfort in your thigh and hip area during your recovery. It will be handled with painkillers as well.
Yes, absolutely. You can live a normal life, walk, join work and perform your daily activities as well.
The hip joint is made up of two bones, thigh bone or femur, and pelvic bone. The thighbone has a ball-like structure that fits into the socket-like structure in the pelvic bone. In the case of hip joint replacement or hip arthroplasty, either one or both parts can be replaced. So, Hip replacement can be partial or complete. In a partial hip replacement, only a part of the hip joint (only the ball of the thigh bone) is replaced with the artificial implant that is known as a prosthesis. In the case of complete hip replacement, both the parts of a hip joint are replaced with artificial implants.
When you are under the care of such an experienced orthopedic surgeon like Dr Abhishek Mishra, complications are highly unlikely. However, some complications that may arise in hip replacement surgery patients are implant failure and infection. Do inform the hospital if you notice any fever, chills, swelling, or discharge from the operation site.
